[ 🇬🇷 Παρακάτω ]Apollonas, is a small town in the northern part of Naxos. It is one of the locations one must visit when in Naxos. Besides the beautiful beaches and natural beauty, nearby in the mountain there is the Kouros of Apollonas. It is an unfinished statue carved on site of the ancient marble quarry and it is dated back to Archaic period of Ancient Greece, around 600 BC. It is 35 feet long and weighs about 80 tons.
The statue was believed to be a statue of Apollo since it is located near Apollonas. However, it has also been identified as a statue of Dionysos, thus it is also referred to as the Colossus of Dionysus.

🇬🇷 Ο Απόλλωνας είναι μια μικρή πόλη στο βόρειο τμήμα της Νάξου. Είναι μια από τις τοποθεσίες που πρέπει να επισκεφθείτε όταν βρεθείτε στη Νάξο. Εκτός από τις ωραίες παραλίες και τη φυσική ομορφιά, κοντά στο βουνό βρίσκεται ο Κούρος του Απόλλωνα. Πρόκειται για ένα ημιτελές μαρμάρινο Κούρο που βρίσκεται στο αρχαίο λατομείο και χρονολογείται από την αρχαϊκή περίοδο της Αρχαίας Ελλάδας γύρω στο 600 π.Χ. Έχει μήκος 35 πόδια και ζυγίζει περίπου 80 τόνους.
Το άγαλμα θεωρήθηκε ως άγαλμα του Απόλλωνα αφού βρίσκεται κοντά στον Απόλλωνα. Ωστόσο, έχει επίσης αναγνωριστεί ως άγαλμα του Διόνυσου, οπότε αναφέρεται και ως Κολοσσός του Διόνυσου.
